Two PSVs over, in the space of almost as many weeks.
It’s actually a mercy that so few people were either seriously hurt or killed in either incident, Monday’s being the Alton Towers catastrophe when one person died and three were critically injured. This follows a Plaxton Paramout 4000 coach’s 20ft embankment decent, owned by Decker Bus of Whittlesey Cambs (till last month of Lutton Northants) (and not as some report Decker Bus of South Mimms nr. Potters Bar; this is a separate undertaking).
The connection between Whittlesey’s Decker Bus and Alec Head Coaches will not go unnoticed to VOSA. There’s a link on Decker Bus’ website to ‘our sister travel and tour business’ Alec Head Coaches, also at Whittlesey and also once of Lutton. Alec Head’s directors have faced a number of maintenance-related public inquiries in recent years.
It’s at times like these that smaller operators should consider the merits of joining the CPT if only for the crisis control the trade umbrella organisation can offer. Managing the media while trying to get relief vehicles for those who need them is pretty much impossible. Alec Head Coaches professes to be such members.
