We’ve been camping in deeply rural Powys for about as long as I care to remember. There’s something about the quiet solitude that you can’t find anywhere in England – not even on the Pennines, crossed as they are by busy highways. Only parts of Scotland can match Powys’ remoteness. See post on last year's venture.
The fact that there’s not a lot to do in Powys is its main attraction. This year, though, will be different. Buses the shade normally reserved for London? That’ll be Powys, then. How strange will that be in rural Brecknock, Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire?
While we are away for the week, there’s no means of updating this blog from under canvas till the date of the next post, on 20 August 2007.
Meanwhile, we’re trying Twitter. Call back here and (a) see if I’ve managed to get Twitter to work and (b) see some thoughts on the bus industry, Powys buses or perhaps even more.
And why not check out some of the archived posts?

Twitter seems like an interesting idea, but I don't think I'd want to have texts coming over my phone....could be a bit distracting.
Is there no way of reading 'twitter texts" over the web? As far as I can tell, only the first line or two is displayed when looking on the web. A bit annoying!
Signed up to Twitter, but still hard to see how you get access to comments via web (I've decided I definitely wouldn't want phone txts - the expense for one thing)
Am I missing something here? :-)
If you kept your 'Powys' musings on your phone, I wonder if you might re-post them on the blog when you return? I'd be fascinated to read them...
Yes Simon, I'm inclined to agree that Twitter is, for this purpose at least, a complete waste of time...Nonetheless full marks for trying !!!
Bit of a shame though....there are some very decent possibilities!
